Stereotypes

Stereotypes are beliefs or theories about what members of particular groups are like. They are expectations that are widely shared within a culture. Stereotypes even have the power to shape our perception of others.

  1. Stereotypes are generalizations people make about another group of people. I think we stereotype subconsciously and they exist in everyone. Stereotypes could be a good thing if you are applying for a job in a big industry and you are asian.. people will assume you are smart. If you are an African American trying out for the basketball team, you must be good. In general stereotypes are bad, but there are some cases where they could work to your advantage.

  4. stereotype is a two sides thing. There are positive things about it, such like it can lead people to the group they are belong to. It also has some negative things, for a example, the wrong stereotype may lead a person to a wrong direction. So be careful about stereotypes...

  5. Stereotypes are generalizations that everyone makes, consciously or not. Many stereotypes have some truth to them, or else they wouldn't exist. But they can make it harder for a person to show their real personality when they are judged based on a larger group. This can be degrading and can force someone to live with judgements--or it can drive them to prove the stereotypes wrong.

  6. Stereotypes are generalizations people make about a group of people. They are usually about gender or ethnic groups. It can cause people to label people as something positive or negative and not letting the person a chance to establish an impression, and makes people lose individuality.
